TB Limelight – Andy Tibbs, MPH
Andy Tibbs has had a unique journey into the world of infectious diseases and tuberculosis (TB). Andy Tibbs is currently the Director of Epidemiology, Surveillance, and Research at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.Andy grew up in an unconventional household -- Andy’s mother was a diplomat and his father worked as an engineer in the Army, which led him to spend some of his early years in Syria, Israel, and Egypt.

The annual Pacific Islands Tuberculosis Controllers Association (PITCA) Conference was held on September 9-13, 2019 in Koror, Palau.  This year’s conference was planned and coordinated by the Palau Ministry of Health and the Global TB Institute.

NTCA's Unsung TB Champion

Mark Wolman from the Global Tuberculosis Institute won the NTCA’s Unsung TB Champion award at the NTCA conference held in April, 2019. Mark has over 30 years of experience in the field of TB as a Program Manager and he has demonstrated significant work in the area of contact investigation. Mark has contributed to training around TB prevention and control activities since GTBI was a Model TB Center in the mid-nineties in response to the TB resurgence
